  Bush had some more harsh words against Iraq.

  Dow was up over 200; almost appears Bush will send troops into
  Iraq, the end of Jan, or start of Feb - arnd 50,000 troops will be
  in Persian Gulf area, in less than a week.

  Bush gave speech to troops at Ft Hood, TX - said they might be
  called to war.

      1/ 4/03 Saturday
  Bush will be introducing an economic stimulous package; has some
  sort of health care package to be pushed; says does not want to go
  to war against Iraq, but will be prepared for it, if needed.

  Economist pundits are predicting a fairly drab year for economy -
  not much improvement, possible war against Iraq could hurt the
  economy - can expect no more than arnd 5% return on stock market &
  other investments.

  Bush will be announcing new economic stimulous package - will be
  known under another euphuism.

      1/ 7/03 Tuesday 
  Bush's economic package is some criticized - words of "class
  warfare" are used in the republican camp.  Dow is up some, is
  around 8,750.

  Senator Dashel announced was not going to run for president, in
  2004; many economist pundits figure 2003 will be non losing year,
  but that large economic advances of 1990's, are not returning.

  English diplomat said war on Iraq could perhaps be put on hold,
  until the U.N. inspectors are done - there was a preliminary
  report from inspectors.

  N Korea says will there will be World War 3, if U.N. forces weapons
  inspectors are forced in.

      1/11/03 Saturday
  Still contrversy over the Bush economic plan for economy - much is
  said of big cut in dividend income taxes.

  News is still of Bush economic package & N Korea crisis.

      1/13/03 Monday 
  N Korean crisis seemingly can be solved - N Koreans seem to use
  "gunboat diplomacy" to achieve thier goals of more open trade,
  more foreign aid, etc.

      1/14/03 Tuesday 
  Bush made some "angry" remarks towards how unresponsive Iraq has
  been towards "dis-arming".  U.N. leader said weapons inspections
  are coming up to speed.

      1/15/03 Wednesday
  Dan Rather is reporting from Iraq, is telling of how Iraqis do not
  want war, some are buying guns for self protection, how poor off
  are many of the people.  Dow is arnd 8,700.

      1/16/03 Thursday
  U.N. weapons inspectors found some old empty chemical warheads for
  missiles - most of them say: "no smoking gun".

      1/17/03 Friday 
  Business word is that consumer spending has been rather sporatic;
  some months ok, some other months, has been poor.  Dow is still
  arnd the 8,700 level.

  Was show on PBS, concerning how Bush people changed concept of Iraq
  war, in August, when gulf war I vetern general went public on
  opinion that gulf war II would unstabilize the middle east, & that
  U.N. inspections would be the correct route.

      1/19/03 Sunday 
  Bush has made some remarks towards "assertive action" - Powell &
  Write are coming out some against the remarks.  Is looking more &
  more to be a Gulf War II, around the middle of February.

      1/20/03 Monday 
  Some news coverage of Sunday's world-wide anti war protest - said
  would return next month.

      1/21/03 Tuesday 
  France, Germany have come up to be against the Iraq war, will vote
  against it, in U.N. security council.  Most think this will not
  stop the U.S. from starting the war.

      1/22/03 Wednesday
  Dow has slipped down to arnd 8,350; economists are wondering about
  the Iraq war - are not sure - want to know more, before predicting
  how economy of 2003 will be.

      1/23/03 Thursday
  Still in news of organizations, countries, people against Iraq war
  - seem to be in minority, world-wide; Canada is for more U.N.
  inspections.

      1/24/03 Friday 
  U.S. is said to be considering allowing U.N. inspectors more time,
  before starting war on Iraq.  Dow down to arnd 8,150.  Cold snap
  across mid-west & south, is much covered in the news.

      1/25/03 Saturday
  Bush people are still saying to perhaps leave the U.N. inspections
  to go a few more weeks, to the end of Feb - when U.S. military
  will be more located and ready, for possible Iraq-Gulf war II.

      1/26/03 Sunday 
  Powell says U.S. can handle going into Iraq war, alone.  Dow is
  down to arnd 8,150; public opinion polls now say economy is more
  important than terrorism or Iraq war.

      1/27/03 Monday 
  U.N. inspectors report said Iraq was not wholly co-operating, but
  had found no contraband weapons.  Is felt this will lead to more
  possibilties of war,

      1/28/03 Tuesday 
  Bush's talk was too radical & was roughly presented; Dan Rather
  thought it was well off, in the part on the war; word is now that
  the Iraq war will not start until the first or middle of March -
  troops will not be ready, until then.

      1/29/03 Wednesday
  Some U.S. citizens seem to be for the Iraq war, some do not;
  Powell and others will be attempting to convince the U.N. to go
  for the war.  Bush's plan to drop taxes on stock dividends, is
  reported to be "dead on arrival".

      1/30/03 Thursday
  Dow has been arnd the 8,000 mark, for the last few days. Bush says
  weeks, not months, before Iraq needs to "fess up".

      1/31/03 Friday 
  Dow down for week; England wants to hold off on Iraq war for a few
  more weeks; U.S. troops will not be in position, until after 1st
  of March, it is said.  War appears to not going to start until
  somewhen in the 1st half of March.
